Saturday night, Sanchez . . . once again, as always, S delivered what most strive for . . . an ecstatic and packed dancefloor still moving at 8 o'clock. RY is the only night I've been to at Turnmills or any other club where right near the end you still feel like it could be 2am, and the floor still heaving with whoops and screams eminating from loved up souls is what makes a really great night . . . energy and enthusiasm aside though when the lights came on those souls certainly looked 'battle weary' !!!! I've seen S @ RY 5 times now and each time I get a real buzz, just feeling that I'm in the middle of something truly great - may be it's just me but only Sanchez can conjure that up . . . however, for me this one lacked the feel good, no doubt about it . . . the usual funk underpinning his entire set was there, but he had a dark tip going throughout and this seemed to drag on at times . . . things kicked off with the usual steady grooves layering uplifting quality soul, with more creative vocal power into an even tougher onslaught, but despite this usual take it to the top and bring it back down a bit over the 8hrs, the gems that I associate Sanchez dropping (some vocal others just tough as sh!t !!!!) that just simply lift the roof off every 20 mins or so, seemed a lot less evident . . . in the past he's played it very tribal, or at other times kept to real tough but groovy house . . . this time there was a slight prog feel definitely - great, I love it, variety is the spice of, but for me an entire night just needs a little more uplift !!!! That said though, when he started playing around near the end, hearing 2 past gems by the Boys from Miami, Murk/Funky Green Dogs was a treat . . . 'Fired Up' WOW !!!!! I'd say that summed up the night pretty good.
